Australia play their second match on their November tour of Europe against
England at Twickenham on Saturday, following a hard fought 25-16 win
over Wales last weekend, in a match that saw BEN ALEXANDER score the
100th try for the Wallabies in the 40th match under Head Coach ROBBIE
DEANS.
Australia need one try to reach 100 in test matches against England. The
last time Australia failed to score a try in a test match against England was
in November 1998; they have scored at least one try in the last 16 test
matches between the two countries.
Including the match against New Zealand in Hong Kong last month, the
Wallabies have now won their last three games on foreign soil. They have
only twice achieved four consecutive victories outside Australia since the
turn of the century, most recently at the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
England went down 26-16 at home to New Zealand on Saturday and have
now lost four of their last six matches at Twickenham. Their all time record
at home to Australia reads won 10, drawn one and lost nine, with their last
victory coming in November 2005 when they beat the Wallabies by the
same scoreline as last week’s defeat to the All Blacks.
England will be hoping that they can make it two wins in a row against
Australia following a 21-20 success in Sydney in June, which was their first
victory in the southern hemisphere since winning the Rugby World Cup in
2003.

A win for England would see them move up to fourth place above France
in the IRB World Rankings after they climbed up a place despite their defeat
to New Zealand, thanks to Ireland’s loss to South Africa. If England lose they
would drop back down to fifth if Ireland beat Samoa and could also drop to
sixth if Scotland beat New Zealand.
Australia will remain in second place in the IRB World Rankings with a win
but would drop down to third if they lose at Twickenham and South Africa
beat Wales in Cardiff.
England have now won nine out of 22 matches played since MARTIN
JOHNSON became team manager in July 2008.
Australia have now won 14, drawn one and lost three playing against
northern hemisphere opposition since Head Coach, ROBBIE DEANS, took
over in December 2007. The Wallabies have lost once to England, Scotland
and Wales during his tenure and drawn against Ireland.
Australia have moved up three places in the IRB World Rankings under
ROBBIE DEANS. They were in fifth place when he was appointed and
climbed up to second following their Tri-Nations victory over South Africa in
Bloemfontein in September.
